Capt. Gordie Hinds
Grayton Beach
23' Regulator
A lifelong angler, Gordie has been fishing professionally
in and around Destin for more than 9 years. At the age of
14, he began a tying flies commercially for the venerable
Angler's Art in Washington, DC. Following college, he became
a fly casting and shotgun shooting instructor for the Orvis
Company, he has also won numerous Florida Keys tournaments
including the Redbone and Key West S.L.A.M. in both fly
division and overall Champion. As chief designer for Columbia
Sportswear's technical, hunting, fishing and technical outerwear
divisions, he was responsible for the creation and development
of several key elements (Technical Fishing Apparel, Omni-tech)
that continue as core lines to this day. Prior to relocating
to the Emerald Coast, he lived outside of Memphis, TN where
he was President of Dunn's Catalog and owner/operator of
a performance horse breeding and training facility where
he accumulated multiple World and Reserve-World titles in
calf roping, team roping and reining events.
He continues to work, when not on the water, as a marketing
and business consultant for various international corporations
such as the National Rifle Association, Westley Richards,
Ltd (UK), Mulholland Brothers and others.
Hinds additionally is an artist of some note with an increasing
representation base including the WaterColor Inn, St. Joe/Arvida
and Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas and
many private and corporate collections as well. Married,
with two grown children, Gordie and his wife Lisa reside
in Santa Rosa Beach.
Capt. Jason Woodham, 31' Contender
Jason's angling experiences are lifelong and truly global
in scope. Having captained several sportfishers to national
and international tournament wins over the years, Jason
elected to make the transition to smaller boat chartering
last year and has made his presence known. Consistently
in the fish, his experience and vast knowledge of local
waters combined with an innate ability to respond to current
conditions, puts our clients into the action. From
bottom fishing to pelagics offshore and everything in between,
he is equal to the task. Jason wanders west to Louisiana
in the winter months to chase yellowfin tuna, wahoo and
the offshore bite out of Grand Isle. This coming winter
will find him behind the helm of a new Contender 35' with
enough amenities to make the runs to the tuna grounds in
complete comfort. We are currently taking bookings
for the winter tuna trips for those who can plan far enough
in advance and want to experience the fabled tuna bite in
LA, please contact us for availability.
Jason and his wife, Kefrin, their two children, Merritt
and Kohl (hence the boat name, Merrikohl - pronounced Miracle
- tell Jason how ingenious that is, he loves that) are lifelong
residents of Destin and call the port their home.
Capt. Bubba Harris: 32' Regulator
Every fleet needs a captain named Bubba and Angry Fish is
no exception. A fourth-generation Destin native, Bubba
has fished these waters from the age of 4 and augmented
this experience with international experience in the cockpit
and at the helm of gamefishing boats from the Caribbean
to South America and quite a few other locations as well.
This broad angling experience, combined with a tangible
local knowledge is of incalculable value and is consistently
proven to our clients time and again, whether inshore or
offshore. Bubba's immaculate 32' Regulator is arguably
one of the finest fishing platforms ever built, providing
ample space, a dry ride and enough amenities to make the
roughest conditions almost enjoyable.
Bubba is recently married and even his new bride is, thus
far, tolerant of his piscatorial pursuits. We keep
him very busy as this may not last.
Capt.Chuck Walthall
Chuck has fished the Panama City Beach area for more than
15 years and has guided professionally for the last 6 years.
A retired school teacher of 30 years with the last 10 years
serving as an Assistant Principal, thus garnering the "Fly
Principal" handle. Chuck's unabashed passion for fly
fishing, which borders on fanaticism, has led him to teaching
and lecturing on the subject of fly fishing and fly tying
through out Northern Florida. A multiple Fly-tournament
Champion and inveterate fly tyer, he is also a fly fishing
associate at Bass Pro Shops (when not on the water guiding)
and continues to advise on gear, rods and fly selections
for clients throughout the country. A member of the Federation
of Fly Fishers and Florida's Coastal Conservation Association,
his primary focus is sight fishing for redfish and speckled
trout in the shallow water flats of Panama City, although
the spring and summer months will also find him and his
clients probing the beaches for tarpon, cobia and jack crevalle
with fly and light tackle.
Fishing out of Chuck's new Maverick HPX Mirage HPX-T allows
our anglers to venture into the skinniest water with incredible
stealth while providing a safe, reliable and comfortable
ride across the considerably vast expanses of water that
is often traversed. Customers may bring their own gear,
but it's certainly not necessary as Chuck is a practicing
tackle junkie; his boat is replete with Sage and TFO fly
rods, Tibor, Abel fly reels, G Loomis spin rods and Shimano
reels, and too many flies and lures to mention.
A day on the water with Chuck is a day well-spent. His genuine
love of fishing combined with an in-depth knowledge of the
surrounding waters, allows our clients a truly educational
fishing experience. Chuck lives in Panama City Beach with
his loving and supportive wife, Carol Sue (who should be
canonized for her tolerance).
